How to properly clean your glass shower

We often come across the misconception that “a glass shower is expensive to clean,” but in reality it looks different.

No shower enclosure is as easy to clean as a frameless glass shower. On the one hand, this is due to the robust raw material glass and, on the other hand, to the absence of frame profiles, which are used for wall connections in standard products. We have provided the most important tips for you here so that you can enjoy your glass shower for a long time.

Quick routine cleaning after every shower

After showering, you should clean the glass from shower gel, shampoo, etc. with clear water. To do this, simply rinse your glasses with a hand shower and low water pressure.

The next and most effective step is to remove using a suitable glass squeegee. This process only takes a few seconds and removes most of the water from your glass. The last drops can now be removed with a soft, lint-free cloth be dried off.

Intensive cleaning in regular cycles

At regular intervals, your shower enclosure receives a little more attention. To remove slight calcium deposits, a mild sanitary cleaner or a little vinegar essence/citric acid mixed with water is sufficient. The cleaner is spread over the glass surface using a soft sponge or a soft cleaning cloth in circular motions. Be sure to follow the specific application instructions on the respective cleaning product. These cleaners are usually left to work for a short time and then rinse with clear water. This is followed by peeling and drying the glasses. After this treatment, the shower looks like new again. As part of this cleaning process, any attached sealing profiles can also be removed and removed from lime using a brush and cleaner.

The longer lime and dirt stay on the glass, the more difficult it is to remove them. That's why removing it after showering goes a long way to maintaining the beauty of your glass shower. If you save yourself the hassle of stripping, you will have to invest significantly more time in complex cleaning later on. Should they encounter stubborn calcium deposits, we have a suitable Chalk cleaner in our range.

Surface coating — what you should consider

Shower glasses can optionally be coated with a water and dirt-repellent coating on the inside. Depending on the manufacturer, different coatings are used here. The following applies to our coating: do not use cleaners that protect against re-soiling. Such products contain their own coatings, which are usually not of the same quality as a factory-made glass coating, and are coated over this. Our glossy glass cleaner contains coating components to care for and refresh our surface coating. Cleaning microfiber cloths should not be used on coated glasses, as these can mechanically stress the coating and shorten its lifespan. Our cloth has been tested on our coatings over a long period of time and is easy to use.

What they shouldn't do

With glass, we have a very resistant and robust raw material, but even glass does not tolerate everything. Please note that these cleaning recommendations only apply to the inside of the glass shower. For example, matting or paint could be applied to the outer side. Here, separate cleaning recommendations must be observed, depending on the type of matting. For such matting, we usually use ceramic screen printing, which can be removed from dirt and fingerprints with standard glass cleaners/ foam cleaners. Under no circumstances should acidic or alkaline cleaners be used on this.

Please do not use harsh cleaning agents as they can damage the glass and fittings. Chlorine cleaners are not only unhealthy for humans, but are not suitable for removing lime. Cleaning agents that must not be used on glass surfaces include strong alkaline bases and strong acidic intensive cleaners.

If you are unsure which cloths, which cleaners, etc. you should use — we have specially designed for our shower glasses and surface coatings cleansers and wipes in our range of products, which we are happy to offer you.

We would like to point out that we can only make these recommendations for our own products. If you do not have a Griesshaber glass shower, please contact the respective manufacturer — we assume no liability for third-party products.
